J&K Bank FASTag

FasTag, operated by the National Highways Authority of India is an electronic toll collection system. The unique Radio Frequency Identification technology is used to make direct toll payments from the prepaid or savings account linked to the fastag. FASTags are issued by 22 certified banks including Jammu and Kashmir Bank, using various channels.

What is FasTag?

FasTag is a device used for easing toll payments directly at toll plazas while the vehicle is in motion. The FasTag employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology which is affixed on the windscreen of the vehicle and this tag will enable the customer to make payments directly from their respective account linked with FasTag.

The system provides the customer with a cashless payment mechanism, thus saving time and fuel as they need not have to stop for a long time in queues at the toll plazas.

The speciality of FasTag is once it is assigned to a particular vehicle it cannot be transferred to another vehicle. Currently, many National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) member banks offer FASTag to the users.

If the FASTag is linked with the prepaid account, then the user will have to maintain a sufficient balance in the account. If in case, sufficient balance is not maintained in the account, then the FASTag will get blacklisted at the toll plaza. In such situations, the passenger will not be able to avail himself of the benefits offered by NETC and will have to end up paying cash at all the toll plazas.
