Overview
The National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) project is managed by the Indian Highway Management Company Ltd, which is overseen by the NPCI. The program's goal is to automate toll payment collection in order to streamline the process. This will make commuting across toll points more convenient and less traffic-clogged. The NETC programme makes use of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology via the FASTag device, which allows for direct payment of toll charges from the prepaid account associated with it. This is also classified as a prepaid payment instrument by the RBI. You get the convenience of cashless payments as well as the convenience of saving time and fuel with NETC FASTag. FASTag is a device that uses RFID technology to make toll payments directly from the linked prepaid account. It is attached to the windscreen of the vehicle and allows the user to drive through toll plazas without having to stop for cash transactions. The tag has a 5-year validity period and can be topped up as needed with a FASTag recharge.
