Mizoram like some other states was earlier a part of Assam. Most of the population in Mizoram is tribal and they are popularly referred to as Mizos. The state has rivers, valleys and several lakes. Mizoram has a large forest area. Like most other North Eastern states, it has rich flora and fauna.
