About Goa

The state was a Portuguese colony and was discovered by Vasco De Gama. In terms of GDP per capita, the state is the richest in the country. The contribution of tourism to the state government coffers has also helped in the rapid development of the state of Goa. The capital of Goa is Panaji.

The state is also very rich in minerals, with significant amounts of iron ore being mined. Goa is known for cashew plantations and also mangoes. Apart from that, it is also known for quality bauxite deposits and manganese deposits. A lot of large industries including pharma, steel rolling and footwear are found. The climate of the state can be quite humid at times and hence the best time to visit would be the winter months from Nov to Feb.
