LPG Price in Arunachal Pradesh

The LPG price in Arunachal Pradesh is mainly determined by the state-run oil companies and the same is subject to change on a monthly basis based on the global crude fuel rates. The rise in crude oil leads to a rise in the LPG rates in Arunachal Pradesh and vice-versa. LPG is a safe and colourless gas and hence its use has tremendously increased in the domestic and industrial sector. The government of India is currently providing domestic LPG Gas cylinder (14.2 kgs) in Arunachal Pradesh at subsidized rates to the low-income section of the society. The subsidy amount will be directly transferred to the customer’s bank account. Currently, the cooking gas in India is easily accessible to most of the people.

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is a scheme introduced by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas for the purpose of providing Liquefied Petroleum Gas cylinder connections to those households who fall in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category. The connection will be granted to the women from the BPL households.

The poor people in the country have little or no access to the LPG and hence in order to create an awareness among the rural and the poor families in India, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has been launched. Till recently LPG cylinders has been extensively used in urban and semi-urban areas by affluent and middle-class families. But post introduction of the new scheme, the households which are located even in the most remote parts in the country has been provided with the safe LPG cylinder connections for cooking purpose.

As per the World Health Organization, more than 5 lakh deaths occur in India due to unclean cooking fuel and most of the premature ones are due to lung cancer, stroke, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and so on. Indoor air pollution is also causing acute respiratory problems in young children in India. Experts believe, having an open fire in a kitchen is equal to burning 400 cigarettes per hour.

The scheme is set to be implemented over a period of three years in different phases starting from 2016 and ending by 2019 across the country.
