Diesel Prices in Assam

The prices of diesel in the state of Assam is revised regularly and the same will come into effect starting from 6 am in the morning across all the fuel filling stations. The state-run oil marketing companies – BPCL, HPCL, IOCL will revise the fuel prices in sync with global crude oil prices. Each and every state in the country will levy separate state based value-added tax also referred to as VAT on diesel prices before arriving at the final diesel selling price across all the fuel filling stations.

The diesel prices are rallying in Assam owing to the rise in crude prices in the global level over the last few weeks and this has severely affected the consumers across the country.

Diesel Prices in Assam Vs Other States in India

One can observe that the prices of diesel are not the same across different states in the country mainly due to several factors one such factor is the state-based VAT which is levied by the respective state governments across the country on fuel prices and the rate of VAT differs from one state to another. Apart from this the demand and supply of fuel, logistics and so on will also determine the diesel prices in a state.

The rate of Value Added Tax in the state of Assam on diesel stands at 22.75%. The residents of Arunachal Pradesh pay 12.50% as VAT on diesel and hence the prices of diesel cost less in Arunachal Pradesh when compared with Assam.
