Universal Office Automation Limited as is called today was originally incorporated as HCL Hewlet - Packard Limited on 15th May,1991 under Companies Act,1956.Its name was changed to HCL Limited on 27th December,1991. On 8th February,1996,its name was again changed to HCL Office Automation Limited and again to ÂUniversal Office Automation LimitedÂ on 31st August, 2006

The object of the company is manufacturing of and leading in complete range of Mini Computers Micro processor based systems, Electronics Instruments, Micrographic and reprograhic equipment and manufacturing and marketing of electronic EPABX systems and electronics Teleprinters. During 1989-90 the company entered into an agreement with Hewlett packard of US for the sale and leaving of the Super Mini and Mainframe computers to be manufactured by Hewlett in India. HCL Finance & Investments Ltd is the subsidiary of the company. HCL Ltd established in 1976, was the pioneer in the office automation industry in India. It was also the first to invest heavily into R&D efforts and build sales and support infrastructure that spanned the length and breadth of the country.

The technical collaborator of the Company Hewlett-packard, is the second largest computer company in the world. It has some of the finest laboratories and manufacturing facilities in the world.

2006

-HCL Office Automation Ltd has appointed Mr. Sushil Kumar Jain as Director of the Company.

2007

- Company name has been changed from HCL Office Automation Ltd to Universal Office Automation Ltd.
