Southern Magnesium & Chemicals Ltd. Company History and Annual Growth Details

The Company was incorporated on 13th February 1985 and received the certificate of commencement of business on 7th July, 1987. The Company has set up a project for manufacture of Magnesium metal at Gowripatnam village in West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh as a Joint Venture with Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation Limited.

The Company acquired a pilot plant set up by the National Metalluargical Laboratory for manufacture of magnesium metal by "Pidgeon Process" with national capacity of 200 tonnes per year. It then carried out necessary alterations, modifications, additions and enhanced the capacity to 600 tonnes.

The Company proposes to go in for forward integration and produce value added items namely Granules, Powders, Alloys and Extrusions by which the profitability will be substantially improved.

The Company has been promoted by Dr. N B Prasad Mr. Ram N Prasad Mr. N Rajender Prasad and Mr. N Ravi Prasad.

-The company has appointed Mr. Ram N Prasad as Chairman.
