In India, there are ten Maharatnas, fourteen Navratnas, and seventy-four Miniratnas. These enterprises are government-owned. The Indian government owns these businesses entirely or in part. With effect from May 19, 2010, the Maharatna Scheme was created for Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) in order to empower major CPSEs to grow their activities and emerge as global giants.
