US President Trump’s First Official Visit To India On 24-25 February
The White House announced US President Donald Trump's first official visit to India on 24-25 February. He will be joined by his wife Melania Trump and will be travelling to Ahmedabad apart from the National Capital to further strengthen the strategic bilateral partnership, it said.

"President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will visit India on February 24-25, 2020. The President and The First Lady will travel to New Delhi and Ahmedabad, which is in Prime Minister Modi's home state of Gujarat and played such an important role in Mahatma Gandhi's life and leadership of the Indian independence movement," the White House said.
The announcement was also made via White House's official Twitter account.
The confirmation of his visit comes days after Taranjit Singh Sandhu, India's new ambassador to the US, presented his credentials to the US President.
Describing it as a significant visit, Mukesh Aghi, president of the US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum, noted that the last three American presidents had made trips to India.
"It's essential to send a message to the region that India is a significant partner and the president values that," Aghi told PTI.
Former US President Barack Obama had travelled to India in 2010 and 2015.
