Trump Slaps New Tariffs on 85+ Countries, India Among Hardest Hit; Full List of Countries & Shocking Tax Rates
In a sweeping escalation of U.S. trade policy, President Donald Trump has announced a new set of global tariffs impacting over 85 countries, including several longstanding U.S. trade partners. The move, confirmed just ahead of the August 1 deadline, introduces a 10% global minimum tariff and much steeper rates-up to 41%-for countries that maintain trade surpluses with the United States.
Trump Tariffs Imposition From August 7
The new tariff structure, which will take effect after midnight on August 7, aims to "rebalance unfair trade advantages" according to a statement released by the White House. U.S. Customs and Border Protection is currently updating its systems to accommodate the changes.

Trump Tariffs Impact on Various Countries
The updated tariffs will be enforced after midnight on August 7. This delay allows US Customs and Border Protection to adjust their systems for levy collection. Afghanistan faces a 15% tariff, while Algeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina are subject to a 30% rate. Bangladesh will incur a 20% duty.
Other notable changes include Botswana at 15%, Brazil at 10%, and Brunei at 25%. Canada's rate is now set at 35%. The European Union will see a tariff of 15%, similar to Fiji, Israel, Japan, South Korea, and Turkey.
Higher Tariffs for Specific Nations; India Among Heavily Taxed Countries

India is now among the most heavily taxed countries under this new regime, facing a 25% tariff compared to Pakistan's 19%, Vietnam's 20%, and Bangladesh's 20%.
