Silver Prices Hit Record High in India as Gold Rates Rally Sharply on Dec 18; Check Latest Rates in Your City
Silver prices in India have been on a sharp upswing toward the end of 2025, with the white metal surging by nearly Rs. 11,900 per kg in just two days. Once referred to as the poor man's gold, the sharp rise in silver rates is now challenging that perception. In India, demand for both gold and silver remains strong throughout the year, and with New Year and Christmas approaching, buying interest is expected to pick up further.
Silver prices are also hovering near record highs in the international market, with spot silver climbing above $66 per ounce, its highest level so far. Silver prices have surged over 130% in 2025 because of strong industrial demand and tight global supply. Market participants are now closely tracking upcoming US inflation data, which could further influence precious metal prices.
Silver rate in India today, Dec 18
On Thursday, Dec 18, silver rates in India today are retailing at Rs. 211,000 per kg, and they rose by Rs. 3,900 today. The 100 g of silver is now costing Rs. 21,100, which jumped by Rs. 390.

Chennai
Silver prices in Chennai today also rose, as 1 kg of silver in Chennai costs Rs. 224,000 after rising by Rs. 2,000.
On December 18th the 24-carat gold rate in Chennai jumped by Rs. 430 per 10 grams to cost Rs. 135,710 per 10 grams. While the 22-carat gold prices in Chennai today spiked by Rs. 400 and are currently retailing at Rs. 124,400 per 10 grams.
Bangalore
Bangalore silver prices today, on December 18th, are Rs. 211,000 per 1 kg, which rose by Rs. 3900.
The 22-carat gold rate in Bangalore rose by Rs. 300 per 10 grams, bringing the price to Rs. 123,600 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, the 24-carat gold price in Bangalore zoomed by Rs. 330, now retailing at Rs. 134,840 per 10 grams.
Hyderabad
On a similar note, silver prices in Hyderabad today are standing at Rs. 224,000 after jumping by Rs. 2000 per kg.
On December 18th, gold prices in Hyderabad also surged across all purity levels. The 24-carat gold rate in Hyderabad jumped by Rs. 330 per 10 grams, now priced at Rs. 134,840 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, the 22-carat gold price in Hyderabad today rose by Rs. 300, bringing the rate up to Rs. 123,600 per 10 grams.

On 18th December, the 24-carat gold rates in India jumped by Rs. 330 to cost Rs. 134,840, while the 22-carat gold rate today spiked by Rs. 300 to retail at Rs. Meanwhile, the 18-carat gold rates in India also surged by Rs. 250, currently at Rs. 110,130.
