The price of 24 karat gold, known for its purity, has gone up by Rs 98 per gram, reaching Rs 11,073 on Tuesday. Similarly, 22 Karat gold saw a rise of Rs 90 per gram, closing at Rs 10,150. Meanwhile, 18 Karat gold experienced the highest jump, increasing by Rs 174 per gram to Rs 8,405.

The festive season traditionally boosts gold buying in Chennai, as many people invest in gold jewellery and gifts for celebrations. This increased demand, coupled with global market trends and currency fluctuations, has contributed to the recent price hikes.
24 Karat Gold Rate Today in Chennai
The cost of 24 karat gold for 8 grams in Chennai has risen by Rs 784, bringing the total to Rs 88,584. Similarly, the price for 10 grams has seen an even higher jump of Rs 980, now reaching Rs 1,10,730. For those looking to invest in bulk, the rate for 100 grams of 24 karat gold has surged by Rs 9,800 compared to the previous day, touching a substantial Rs 11,07,300.
Chennai Gold Rate Today: 22 Karat Gold Prices on September 9
The price of 22 karat gold in Chennai has seen a steady increase today. For 1 gram, the rate has gone up by Rs 90, reaching Rs 10,150 compared to Rs 10,060 yesterday. When purchasing 8 grams, buyers will now pay Rs 81,200, which is Rs 720 more than the previous day.

Similarly, the price for 10 grams has increased by Rs 900, bringing it to Rs 1,01,500. For bulk buyers, the 100-gram rate has risen by Rs 9,000, now standing at Rs 10,15,000.
Today's 18 Karat Gold Rate in Chennai
Meanwhile, 18 Karat gold has experienced even sharper price hikes in the city on Tuesday. The rate for 1 gram has increased by Rs 174, closing at Rs 8,405 today from Rs 8,231 yesterday. For 8 grams, the price surged by Rs 1,392 to Rs 67,240. The 10-gram rate also rose significantly, going up by Rs 1,740 to Rs 84,050. Bulk purchases of 100 grams are now priced at Rs 8,40,500, a substantial increase of Rs 17,400 compared to the previous day.
