These engagements laid the groundwork for a strategic partnership, which will likely influence their upcoming talks.

Before meeting PM Modi, President Trump held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. On Tuesday, he also met with Jordan's King Abdullah.

The Modi-Trump meeting takes place as trade, defense collaboration, and energy have emerged as key focus areas in India-US relations.
