Iran Issues Stern Warning Of Military Action After US Airstrikes On Nuclear Sites

Iran has declared its right to a military response following intense US airstrikes on its nuclear sites. Tensions escalate as diplomatic avenues narrow, raising concerns about regional stability.

Iran has issued a stern warning of a decisive military response following US airstrikes on its nuclear facilities. The strikes have intensified tensions in the Middle East, raising concerns about the future of diplomacy in the region. Iran's UN ambassador, Amir Saeid Iravani, stated that the country reserves the right to defend itself against what it perceives as blatant aggression by the US and its Israeli ally.

Iran Warns Of Military Response To US Airstrikes

During an emergency UN Security Council meeting, Iravani accused the US of waging war under false pretenses and blamed Israel for undermining diplomatic efforts. He declared, "We will take all measures necessary," emphasizing Iran's determination to respond appropriately. The session was convened under the agenda item "threats to international peace and security."

Escalation in Middle Eastern Conflict

The recent US military action involved 14 bunker-buster bombs, over two dozen Tomahawk missiles, and more than 125 aircraft targeting Iran's main nuclear sites. This marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, which began with Israeli strikes on June 13. According to a human rights group cited by AP, these strikes have resulted in at least 950 deaths and 3,450 injuries.

Iravani also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for dragging America into another costly war without basis. He described the actions by both nations as a "flagrant breach of international law." The ambassador accused Israel of spreading false narratives about Iran's nuclear ambitions, claiming they were on the verge of acquiring a nuclear weapon.

International Reactions and Accusations

The Iranian ambassador condemned what he called "illegal and politically motivated actions" by Western countries including the US, UK, France, and their European allies. He highlighted their silence and double standards as equally reprehensible. Iravani urged international organisations to hold both the US and Israel accountable for their actions.

He further accused Israel of deliberately destroying diplomatic avenues while presenting deceitful policies to mislead the global community. The situation underscores the fragile state of international relations in the Middle East, complicating prospects for future diplomatic negotiations.

The conflict has strained relations further as Iran asserts its right to respond militarily. This development poses serious questions about regional stability and highlights ongoing challenges in achieving lasting peace in this volatile area.
