India-Pakistan Tensions: US Sec Mark Rubio Talks Jaishankar, Pak PM; Hafiz Saeed Gets 4X Security | 10 Updates
Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, United States Secretary of State Mark Rubio urged the two nations to de-escalate tensions and maintain peace in South Asia.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, in a telephonic conversation with Rubio, reiterated India's stance on the Pahalgam terror attack and mentioned that the planners and perpetrators of the attack "must be brought to justice". Meanwhile, in another telephonic conversation between Mark Rubio and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the US Secretary urged him to openly condemn the Kashmir attack.

In another update related to the Pahalgam attack, a report has claimed that terrorists scouted three other locations in Jammu and Kashmir before executing the final attack on April 22. As India and Pakistan tensions continue, here are the latest updates on the Pahalgam terror attack.
Mark Rubio Talks With EAM S Jaishankar
Mark Rubio earlier on Thursday held talks with EAM S Jaishankar and discussed the tensions between India and Pakistan. While reaffirming the US's stance on terrorism, Mark Rubio assured America's full support to India on the Pahalgam terror attack. S Jaishankar told Rubio that the perpetrators and planners of the terror attack must be brought to justice.
Perpetrators of Terrorism Must Be Brought To Jutice: EAM To US Secretary
Hours after discussing the issue of Pahalgam terror attack with Mark Rubio, Jaishankar shared an update on social media platform on X. "Discussed the Pahalgam terrorist attack with US @SecRubio yesterday. Its perpetrators, backers and planners must be brought to justice," read the post by EAM on Thursday.
Mark Rubio Dials Pakistan PM
Apart from speaking with S Jaishankar, Mark Rubio also dialled Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the same day. Rubio urged Pakistan PM to publicly condemn Kashmir terror attack and work to de-escalate tensions with India.
US Urges Pak To Condemn Kashmir Terror Attack
United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio "spoke of the need to condemn the terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam," news agency AFP quoted State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce as saying.
India Shuts Airspace for Pakistan aircraft
Days after Pahalgam terror attack and subsequent closure of Pakistan airspace for Indian airlines, Delhi has reciprocated the action by shutting its airspace for Pakistani flights. According to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) released on Wednesday, the Indian airspace will not be available for Pakistani flights till May 23.
Indian airspace ban has been imposed on aircraft registered in Pakistan, owned or operated by a Pakistani national, or its military aircraft.
Terrorists Had Scouted Three Locations Before Pahalgam Terror Attack
As the search operation is underway to find the terrorists, perpetrators and planners of Pahalgam terror atack, NDTV has reported that the terrorists entered Pahalgam two or three days before the attack.
They had conducted reconnaissance of nearly three locations, including the targeted Baisaran valley, before carrying out the terror attack, NDTV report added citing sources.
Lashkar-e-Taiba Chief Hafiz Saeed Gets 4X Security
Security of Hafiz Saeed, the chief of terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba, has been heightened in Pakistan amid tensions with India post Pahalgam terror attack, reported India Today citing sources.
Few days ago, banned terror outfit The Resistance Front (TRF), known to be associated with LeT, had took responsibility of Pahalgam terror attack. However, the terror organisation later rejected its own statement and denied any involvement in the attack.
According to India Today report, Hafiz Saeed, believed to be the mastermind of Pahalgam attack, is receiving 24x7 enhanced security including deployment of armed personel from the Pakistan Armed Forces and extensive surveillance of the location where he is staying.
Lt Muhammad Asim Malik Appointed As Pak NSA
Pakistan has appointed officer Lt General Muhammad Asim Malik as hte new National Security Adviser (NSA) amidst raging tensions with India. Prior to taking over this role, Malik was appointed as the director general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in October 2024.
BSF Recovers Cache of Arms, Ammunitions Near Indo-Pak Border
Another terror plot was foiled on India Pakistan border after BSF and Punjab police recovered a substantial cache of arms, ammunition and grenades near village Bharopal during an operation carried out on April 30. The security officials recovered two hand grenades, three pistols with six magazines, and 50 live rounds.
Pakistan Continues Ceasefire Voilation at LoC
In the aftermath of Pahalgam terror attack, Pakistan has frequently carried out firing at Line of Control (LoC) violating ceasefire multiple times. In the recent incident, Pakistan violated ceasefire on Wednesday.
"During the night of April 30 to May 1, Pakistani Army posts carried out unprovoked small-arms fire across the LoC in areas opposite Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Our troops responded proportionately," Indian Army officials told news agency ANI.
