Starting September on a high, 24 Karat gold prices in Chennai have surged once again, adding to the upward trend seen at the end of August. Today, 24K gold is priced at Rs 10,588 per gram, up by Rs 93 from yesterday's Rs 10,495.

For larger quantities, 8 grams will now cost Rs 84,704 (up by Rs 744), 10 grams is priced at Rs 1,05,880 (a rise of Rs 930), and 100 grams is available for Rs 10,58,800, marking a sharp increase of Rs 9,300 overnight. The premium purity of 24K gold, coupled with strong market demand, is clearly pushing prices higher as we head into the festive season.
22 Karat Gold Rate in Chennai Today
Jewellery buyers in Chennai are seeing a steady price climb in 22 Karat gold as well. On 1 September, 22K gold is selling at Rs 9,705 per gram, rising by Rs 85 from yesterday's rate of Rs 9,620. The cost of 8 grams now stands at Rs 77,640, up by Rs 680, while 10 grams is priced at Rs 97,050, a gain of Rs 850.
A bulk purchase of 100 grams will now set you back Rs 9,70,500, up by Rs 8,500 from the previous day. With festive preparations beginning, the upward momentum in 22K gold is likely to continue.
Today's 18 Karat Gold Rate in Chennai
Even 18 Karat gold, which is popular for lightweight and designer jewellery, has witnessed a notable hike. As of today, 18K gold is priced at Rs 8,030 per gram, reflecting a rise of Rs 75 from yesterday's Rs 7,955.
For those purchasing in quantities, 8 grams now cost Rs 64,240 (up by Rs 600), 10 grams is at Rs 80,300 (up by Rs 750) and 100 grams is priced at Rs 8,03,000, rising by a solid Rs 7,500 overnight. With gold prices rising across all purity levels, buyers may look to lock in rates before the next price jump.

Gold prices in India have seen a rise today on September 1, 2025. The cost for 24 karat gold is Rs 10,588 per gram, while 22 karat gold is priced at Rs 9,705 per gram. For 18 karat gold, the rate stands at Rs 7,941 per gram.
Current Gold Rates in Major Indian Cities
Across major Indian cities apart from Chennai, the price of 24K gold remains consistent at Rs 10,588 per gram in Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kerala, Pune and Vadodara. However, in Delhi and Ahmedabad, the rate is slightly higher at Rs 10,603 and Rs 10,593 respectively.
The price of 22K gold follows a similar pattern with most cities listing it at Rs 9,705 per gram. In Delhi and Ahmedabad though, it is priced at Rs 9,720 and Rs 9,710 respectively. Meanwhile, 18K gold costs Rs 7,941 per gram in most cities on Monday.
