Delhi Airport Issues Passenger Advisory as Heavy Fog Disrupts Flights; Normal Operations Resume
After facing major disruptions due to dense fog in the early hours of Thursday, flight operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport have now normalised, according to the latest passenger advisory issued by Delhi airport authorities.

Earlier in the day, thick fog blanketed large parts of Delhi, severely reducing visibility and impacting air travel, which caused temporary chaos at IGI Airport. As per initial updates, more than 20 flights were cancelled and several were delayed as operations were carried out under CAT III conditions, which allow aircraft to land in extremely low visibility but require specialised pilots and equipment.
The fog also caused inconvenience to road commuters across the national capital.
Latest Delhi Airport Advisory
In the most recent update, Delhi Airport authorities confirmed that flight operations are currently running smoothly. Passengers have been advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for the latest flight status and schedule updates.
Delhi Weather Today: Fog, Haze, and Poor Air Quality Hit the Capital
On Thursday, December 18, 2025, Delhi weather was quite foggy and hazy during the early morning hours. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), fog is forecast to persist into the next few days, with limited improvement expected in early morning visibility across the Delhi-NCR region.
Despite early fog conditions, midday temperatures hovered around 18°C to 19°C, with humid conditions through the afternoon.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi is raising a serious concern. According to real-time pollution data, AQI values were in the 'very poor' to 'severe' category (300-400+) due to fog, pollution emissions, and particulate matter. The rising AQI is increasing health risks for sensitive groups such as children, the elderly, and people with respiratory issues.
IMD weather forecasts also suggest that dense fog and poor visibility could continue for at least the next several days, particularly during the early mornings and late evenings.
