China Brings 1st Public 10G Broadband: Movie Download in Seconds to Ultra-Fast E-Sports- What Will It Change?

Huawei, in collaboration with China Unicom, brought China's first 10G broadband network in Hebei Province, reported Chinese media outlet MyDrivers on Sunday. The ultra-high speed network will be available in the Xiongan New Area of China's Hebei Province from this month. The 10G broadband network in China is powered by the cutting-edge 50G Passive Optical Network (PON) technology.

According to Okhla, Ar-Rayyan Median City of Qatar had the highest mobile internet speed of 618.53 Mbps (6.8G/s) for downloading, whereas, Abu Dhabi had the highest fixed broadband speed of 355 Mbps (Downloading) in March.

-According to the report, it will significantly enhance the entertainment experience from boosting virtual reality experience to downloading a 4K movie in seconds.

-The network will provide glitch free experience despite being connected with multiple smart devices at home and being used at the same time.

"What surprised me even more was that when multiple smart devices at home were used at the same time, the network was still smooth, and 8K video on-demand playback, 4K monitoring, ultra-fast cloud e-sports, and smart home systems could all run stably,"Mydrivers website quoted a user of the 10G broadband service.

-According to 10Gplatform website, 10G broadband connection would enable students of all ages to learn by using immersive, personalised and transportive educational experiences.

-Better availability of 10G broadband connection has the potential to revolutionise healthcare with the use of smart sensor-enabled devices, better care and hospital facilities in rural and remote areas via robots and holograms.

-Its use in agricultural practices can help in better farming practices with the use of better farming conditions, etc.

As of now the technology has been introduced as a pilot project in China. The deployment of 10G broadband is based on the 50G PON solution which has used upgraded underlying architecture of the fiber optic access network. For the pilot project, the single-user bandwidth has been increased from the traditional gigabit level to the 10G level.

After infrastructure upgradation, the households, included in the project, recorded download speeds of 9,834 Mbps and upload speeds of 1,008 Mbps, with latency as low as three milliseconds. The enhanced internet speed has widened the scope of using technologies like 8K video, cloud services, virtual and augmented reality.
