Indian markets were closed on account of Diwali, while most Asian markets were trading with gains.
The Japanese Nikkei, the Korean Kospi and the Hang Sang were all trading with gains of around 0.5 per cent to 1.5 per cent. The gains were largely on account of robust closings in the US, after a good set of corporate results.
Indian markets had a special 1 hour Muhurat trading, in which the Sensex lost 194 points, while the Nifty lost 64 points.
