CNG or Compressed Natural Gas is a gaseous fuel, a mixture of hydrocarbons mainly consisting of Methane in the range of 95 per cent. Due to its low density, it is compressed in the CNG tank to a pressure of 200 bar to enhance the onboard storage capacity of the CNG-fitted tanks.

The CNG-fitted gas cylinder can run about 150-160 kilometers, for a 1300 CC car. An electronic fuel gauge fitted on the dashboard will indicate the quantity of the CNG left in the cylinder.
