Are CNG tanks safe?

The CNG tanks are made of highly resistant full steel to hold the full weight of the cylinder. These CNG tanks are tested to 300 bars, 1.4 times the normal working pressure and hence it is extremely safe, approved and tested as they are as per the stringent standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

The CNG tanks are fitted in the luggage space of the car. It will be fastened with a metal strap to fix it firmly as it does not move when the car is running.

Why do CNG cars pollute less?

Methane, as a fuel, reduces the emission of the greenhouse gas CO2 by over 20 per cent. Emissions of Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Nitrogen Oxide (NO) are prominently low. Most of the hydrocarbon emissions are made up of pure and non-toxic methane. The CNG fuel-fitted vehicles do not produce particulate matter (PM10) and hence the urban air pollution limit will be reduced.

What is the capacity of a CNG cylinder?

The storage capacity of a CNG-filled cylinder is around 9 - 10 kilograms of CNG fuel. It is most preferred for a four-wheeler vehicle. With a full capacity, a CNG-enabled vehicle can run up to around 180-230 kilometres (km).
