Large cap mutual funds invest prominently in equity of companies that are top 100 companies in terms of market capitalization. Sebi has mandated large cap equity funds to allocate around 80% of their corpus to into large-cap company stocks.
Large-cap stocks generally have a capital structure of more than Rs. 20,000 in India. Sebi lists the top 100 companies with the biggest capitalization as blue-chip companies. So, large cap funds are also called bluechip equity mutual funds.
