Vikram Sahu is poised to become the new chief executive of Bank of America NA in India, following approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He will take over from Kaku Nakhate, who has led the bank's operations in India for 15 years. Nakhate will transition to the role of Chair, India, focusing on strengthening key client relationships.

Sahu's appointment as CEO comes alongside his current role as India Country Executive. An internal memo reveals that he had already taken on overall leadership of the India franchise earlier this year, pending regulatory approval. His responsibilities have included guiding the country leadership team on governance and regulatory issues, engaging with key clients, and promoting responsible growth.
Leadership and Strategic Growth
In his new role as India CEO, Sahu will lead the local management team and be part of the Asia Pacific executive committee. He will also chair the India country leadership team (CLT). Reporting to Jin Su, president of Asia Pacific, Sahu will continue overseeing the strategic growth plan for the entity.
Before his assignment in India, Sahu was based in New York as the head of global equity research. His educational background includes a degree from St Stephen's College in New Delhi. He furthered his studies in the United States with a master's degree.
Extensive Global Experience
Sahu brings nearly three decades of experience across various regions including India, Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States, and Europe. This extensive international exposure is expected to benefit Bank of America's operations in India significantly.
The transition marks a significant change in leadership for Bank of America NA in India. With Sahu at the helm, the bank aims to continue its focus on strategic growth and maintaining strong client relationships under Nakhate's guidance as Chair.
