Uttarakhand Increases State Advised Price for Sugarcane by Rs 30 for 2025-26 Season
Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced a Rs 30 increase in the State Advised Price for sugarcane, setting it at Rs 405 for early varieties and Rs 395 for normal varieties. This decision aims to enhance the economic empowerment of farmers.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has declared the State Advised Price (SAP) for sugarcane for the 2025-26 crushing season. The price is set at Rs 405 per quintal for early maturing varieties and Rs 395 per quintal for normal ones. This decision follows a Rs 30 per quintal increase from the previous year.

In the 2024-25 season, early maturing sugarcane was priced at Rs 375 per quintal, while normal varieties were at Rs 365 per quintal. The chief minister emphasised that this year's price hike aims to boost farmers' economic empowerment. The state government is committed to enhancing farmers' financial stability through these measures.
Sugarcane Price Determination Process
Dhami highlighted that extensive consultations took place with various stakeholders before finalising the new prices. Discussions involved cooperative, public, and private sector sugar mills, along with the Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Department and farmer organisations. This collaborative approach ensured a comprehensive evaluation of all factors.
The decision considered the central government's Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP), Uttar Pradesh's sugarcane pricing, and Uttarakhand's unique geographical and agricultural conditions. The aim was to make a balanced decision that benefits all parties involved in the sugarcane industry.
Impact on Farmers and Economy
The increased SAP for the upcoming season is expected to provide significant relief to sugarcane farmers. It will also contribute to strengthening Uttarakhand's agricultural economy by promoting sugarcane production. The chief minister believes this move will positively impact both farmers and the state's overall economic health.
Dhami stated, "This increased price announced for the 2025-26 crushing season will not only provide relief to sugarcane farmers but will also strengthen the state's agricultural economy and help promote sugarcane production." The government remains focused on supporting farmers through fair pricing strategies.
The new SAP reflects a strategic effort to align with regional pricing trends while considering local conditions. By doing so, Uttarakhand aims to maintain competitiveness in the sugar industry and ensure sustainable growth for its farmers.
