Moradabad Set to Transform into Export Hub with Jitin Prasada's Development Plans
Union Minister Jitin Prasada announced plans to transform Moradabad, known as the Brass City, into an export hub. Speaking at the Samvat Programme at Moradabad Circuit House, Prasada highlighted the need to enhance basic infrastructure like railways and roads. He also stressed addressing exporters' administrative and technical issues through a One Stop Centre.

Prasada expressed concern over the decline in exports this year compared to last. As the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics and Information Technology, he emphasised identifying problems and finding solutions. He mentioned that GST-related issues would be discussed in the upcoming GST Council meeting to seek a permanent resolution.
Export Hub Development
During discussions with officials from various departments, including GST and GGFT, Prasada explored ways to improve conditions for exporters. He directed District Magistrate Anuj Singh to appoint a nodal officer for pollution control and municipal corporation issues. Prasada insisted on adherence to rules without causing harassment.
In a press conference, Prasada noted that while business has grown significantly, artisans' economic conditions have not improved. Their numbers are dwindling as a result. To support artisans alongside exporters, he instructed the Joint Commissioner of Industries to take steps towards creating an Artisan Village under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative.
Artisan Support and Economic Growth
Moradabad holds a significant position globally in craftsmanship related to brass and other metals. The minister reiterated plans to develop it as an export hub. He stated that the BJP's double-engine government at both the Centre and Uttar Pradesh is dedicated to providing employment opportunities and boosting exporters' income amid global economic fluctuations.
The focus remains on enhancing facilities for exporters while addressing their challenges comprehensively. By improving infrastructure and offering targeted support, the government aims to bolster Moradabad's status as a key player in the export market.
