TotalEnergies Plans To Exit Adani Green Energy; French Energy Major To Sell 6% Stake In AGEL, Says Report

Adani Green Energy Stake Sale: France-based TotalEnergies is mulling over to sell around 6% stake in Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), reported Economic Times, citing sources. Total had purchased over 20% minority stake in AGEL and enjoys around 50% ownership in its operating solar portfolio.

The development has come days after TotalEnergies chief executive Patric Pouyanne had expressed his willingness to sell a stake in Adani Green Energy Limited. The French Energy major bought its stake in AGEL in 2021 for around $2.5 billion; now it intends to take a profit from the stake. It is now valued at nearly $8 billion, reported ET, citing authors. TotalEnergies To Sell Stake in AGEL

TotalEnergies acquired 20% minority stake in AGEL and 50% ownership in its operating solar portfolio for $2.5 billion. As of now, Total Energies has 19% stake in Adani Group's renewable energy arm. The stake includes 15.58% ownership stake in TotalEnergies Renewables Indian Ocean Limited and 3.41% through TotalEnergies Solar Wind Indian Ocean Limited.

About Adani Green Energy Share Price Trend

Adani Green Energy shares were trading 0.85% lower at Rs 1020.95 per share on BSE with a market capitalisation of Rs 1,65,658.96 crore at 11:33 am. The stock had touched a 52-week high mark of Rs 1,445 per share on 2 December 2024, and had dipped to its 52-week low mark of Rs 758 per share on 3 February 2025.

The stock valuation has declined by around 6.3% in a week, and around 2.5% since the beginning of the year 2025. The stock value has declined over 50% in two years. It has a return on equity (ROE) of 15.18%.

Adani Green Energy Q2 Result

Adani Green Energy in October reported a 25.19% surge in its net consolidated profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 644 crore in Q2FY26 against Rs 515 crore reported in Q2FY25. The company had reported a net total income of Rs 3,249 crore during the quarter under review.

The company had reported a total income of Rs 4,006 crore in the year ago period. Company's revenue from operations stood at Rs 2,776 crore during the quarter ending in September, up from Rs 2,308 crore reported in the same period a year ago.Company's current assets increased to Rs 114,845 crore from Rs 102,776 crore reported in the year ago period.
