About Tata Motors Demerger

The demerger, effective from October 1, 2025, was designed to separate the fast-growing passenger vehicle and electric vehicle (EV) business from the more stable, cash-generating commercial vehicle segment. Shareholders holding Tata Motors shares as of the record date, October 14, were eligible to receive shares in the demerged commercial vehicle business under a 1:1 split.

The strategic move was approved by Tata Motors' board in August last year to sharpen business focus and unlock growth potential for both segments. Post-demerger, the two separate listed entities-Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles (TMCV) and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) allow investors to value each business independently based on its performance and growth prospects.
