Special Pre-Open Session on NSE for One Hour for Tata Motors Demerger: Check Date, Time & Key Trading Details
Tata Motors, India's leading automobile manufacturer, is preparing for a significant corporate restructuring with the demerger of its commercial vehicle (CV) business into a separate entity. In line with this, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will conduct a special pre-opening trade session for Tata Motors.

To facilitate a smooth transition for the demerger, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) has scheduled a special pre-opening trading session for Tata Motors shares on October 14. This session will be conducted from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, providing investors with a one-hour window to adjust their positions ahead of the stock split and restructuring.

Tata Motors Splits Commercial and Passenger Vehicle Units into Separate Entities
The demerger officially came into effect on October 1, 2025. Following this, Tata Motors' commercial vehicle (CV) and passenger vehicle (PV) units have become two distinct business entities. As part of the restructuring, these units will now be listed separately on stock exchanges. Currently, Tata Motors is listed as a single entity and investors have been reacting to developments in both CV and PV segments through the same stock.
Tata Motors Demerger Record Date and Share Allotment
The record date for this corporate action has been set as October 14, 2025. Investors who hold Tata Motors shares on this date will be eligible to receive one share of TML Commercial Vehicles for every share of Tata Motors they own. The listing of the demerged entities on BSE and NSE will follow in the coming weeks.
Tata Motors F&O Contracts Expiry Date Tomorrow on October 13; ICICI Direct Advises Timely Position Closure
As a result of the demerger, all open Tata Motors futures and options (F&O) contracts expiring on October 28, November 25, and December 30, 2025 will now expire early on October 13, 2025. These contracts will be physically settled if not squared off before the market opens on that day.
Trading platform ICICI Direct has advised to close open positions by October 13 or the system will automatically attempt to close them as follows:
- By 12:00 PM for long options
- By 2:30 PM for long/short futures and short options
