Tamil Nadu SIR Draft Electoral Roll 2025 Released: How to Check Voter List, Submit CorrectionsOnline & Offline

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will publish the Integrated Draft Electoral Roll for Tamil Nadu on 19 December 2025, following a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) carried out with 1 January 2026 as the qualifying date. Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik is expected to formally announce the release of the draft roll and brief the public on the process for checking voter details and submitting corrections.

Tamil Nadu SIR Voter List 2025 Electoral Roll

The publication of the draft electoral roll is a key step ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in 2026, as it allows voters to verify their entries, correct errors, and raise objections before the final roll is prepared. Residents across the state have been urged to check their details promptly once the draft is released, as the window for corrections is limited and directly impacts voter eligibility.

What the Special Intensive Revision Means

The Special Intensive Revision is a comprehensive door-to-door verification exercise conducted across Tamil Nadu to ensure that the electoral roll is accurate and up to date. During the process, officials verify existing voters, remove entries of deceased, permanently shifted, or untraceable persons, and include newly eligible voters who will turn 18 years of age by 1 January 2026.

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) collected voter information at the household level and cross-checked documents to validate eligibility. Names that failed to meet eligibility criteria were flagged, while first-time voters were added to the rolls. The integrated draft electoral roll is released to allow public scrutiny before the final version is notified.

What to do If Your Name is Missing in Tamil Nadu SIR Electoral Roll

If a voter finds their name missing or notices incorrect information, they can submit claims or objections during the Claims and Objections period, which begins on 19 December 2025 and typically runs for about 30 days. Applications must be submitted using the prescribed forms, Form 6 for new enrolment or inclusion of missing names, Form 7 for deletion of ineligible names and Form 8 for corrections to existing entries.

These forms can be submitted online through the Voters' Service Portal or the Voter Helpline App, where applicants receive a tracking ID to monitor their request. Offline submissions are also accepted through the Booth Level Officer or at the office of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) at the relevant taluk or municipal office.

    Special Camps and Required Documents

The Election Commission is also expected to organise special assistance camps at polling stations, particularly on weekends, to help voters submit forms and understand the correction process. Officials at these camps will assist residents in selecting the appropriate form and verifying documentation.

Applicants are generally required to submit self-attested documents. Proof of identity and age may include Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Birth Certificate, or Passport, while address proof can be furnished using recent utility bills, Aadhaar Card, bank passbook or Passport. Two passport-size colour photographs are required for new voter registration through Form 6.
