Closing Bell: Sensex Ends 111 Pts Higher, Nifty Settles at 26,215; PSU Bank Index Declines

As speculated, the Stock market opened strong on Thursday, extending yesterday's momentum with both benchmark indices trading in the green. The Sensex climbed to 85,718.77, up 109.27 points or 0.13%, while the Nifty50 advanced to 26,233.10, gaining 27.80 points or 0.11%.

Among the most active stocks in early trade were Vodafone Idea, Jaiprakash Associates, Salasar Techno Engineering, Reliance Power, Yes Bank & JP Power

After a smashing performance yesterday, both benchmark indices are expected to extend the bull run today as well. The positivity is coming from early trends in the GIFT Nifty, which is trading in the green this morning. At around 8:30 am, Nifty futures were quoting 26,420, up 0.06%, signalling a firm start for the market. On Wednesday, the Sensex and Nifty rallied sharply, surging 1.2% each.

By the end of the trading session, the Sensex closed at 85,609.51, up 1,022.50 points (1.21%), while the Nifty 50 ended just below its record high at 26,205.30, gaining 320.50 points (1.24%). Global cues remain supportive as major Asian and U.S. indices posted another strong session of gains. The S&P 500 rose 0.7%, marking its fourth consecutive day of gains, while the Nasdaq 100 added 0.87% and the Dow Jones climbed 0.67%, boosting sentiment across world markets.
