Closing Bell: Sensex Close 566 Pts Higher, Nifty Above 25,000; Max Health, Shriram Finance, TCS Top Gainers

Indian market is trading near its day's high with Sensex trading at 81,634.34, up by 427 points. While Nifty 50 performed at 25,023, higher by over 130 points. Both the benchmarks have touched an intraday high of 81,637.53 and 25,026.40. Top performing stocks are Kotak Bank, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, and Eternal with gains ranging from 2% to 2.5%.

Earlier, Sensex and Nifty opened on a positive note on Monday despite the indication of caution. Indian stock markets are likely to see a cautious start on Monday, October 6, 2025, as indicated by GIFT Nifty futures, which were trading 47 points lower at 24,959 as of 7:59 AM. Despite the soft opening signal, underlying sentiment remains positive, supported by easing crude oil prices, robust sectoral performance, and improving festive demand expectations.

India's IPO market is set for a record week, led predominantly by two massive offerings. Tata Capital is launching a Rs 15,511 crore IPO, while LG Electronics India is following with an Rs 11,607 crore offer-for-sale (OFS). Together, these two deals account for nearly 90% of the total Rs 30,000 crore fundraises expected this week, marking the largest single-week haul in India's IPO history.

Global Market Snapshot

Globally, sentiment got a boost from Japan, where the Nikkei index surged over 4% to a record high. The rally followed the election of Sanae Takaichi as the new leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. Her selection paves the way for her to become Japan's first female Prime Minister, lifting investor confidence sharply.

In the US, Wall Street closed mixed on Friday as investors looked beyond uncertainty around a potential government shutdown. The deadlock in Congress delayed key economic reports, including the September jobs data, which was originally scheduled for release on Friday.

At the close, the S&P 500 edged up 0.01%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.51%, while the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.28%, reflecting a cautious but steady global investment environment.
