Closing Bell: Sensex Ends 368 Pts Lower; Nifty Tumbles Below 24,500; Tech Mahindra, Maruti, M&M, Top Gainers

At the opening bell, both the Sensex and Nifty started lower compared to the previous close. However, by 10 a.m., the Sensex had recovered its early losses, rising to 80,888.60, up 284.52 points or 0.35% for the day. Similarly, the Nifty 50 bounced back to 24,680.90, gaining 95.85 points or 0.39%.

After ending on a positive note yesterday, the stock market is expected to witness muted trading on Tuesday morning as Nifty futures trade flat. At around 8:45 am, the Nifty was slightly up by 0.33% at 24,633.

Benchmark indices made a strong comeback on Monday, ending a six-week losing streak as the Sensex and Nifty climbed significantly. Small- and mid-cap stocks also participated in the rally, strengthening the overall market recovery. Public sector banks and healthcare shares led the gains, giving a crucial boost to the day's performance. The S&P BSE Sensex soared by 746.29 points, or 0.93%, closing at 80,604.08, while the Nifty 50 index rose 221.75 points, or 0.91%, to finish at 24,585.05.

Meanwhile, Asian markets opened with mixed sentiments today. Shanghai's SSE Composite gained 0.34%, and Japan's Nikkei surged 2.46%, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng slipped 0.14%. In the US, markets closed lower yesterday as the Dow Jones fell 0.45%, the Nasdaq dropped 0.3%, and the S&P 500 declined 0.25%,
