Indian equities began today's session on a positive note, with benchmark indices edging higher at the opening bell. The Nifty 50 opened at 26,110.10, up 41.95 points (0.16%), while the Sensex rose 107.62 points (0.13%) to 85,339.54.
Among the most active stocks, HAL slipped nearly 4% in early deals, while Groww gained around 2%. Heavyweights such as HDFC, TCS, Indigo, BSE, M&M, Bharti Airtel, and Reliance were also actively traded.
Earlier, Gift Nifty is trading positively this morning, hinting yet another upbeat session for the markets. At around 8:40 am, Gift Nifty was quoting 26,151, up 0.28%, pointing at a stable start for Dalal Street. On Thursday, November 20, the Nifty 50 hit a fresh record high of 26,246, before paring some intraday gains to settle at 26,068.15, down 0.47% by the end of friday's trading. The Sensex also slipped 0.47%, closing at 85,231.92 by the end of the session.
Meanwhile, Asian markets opened on a mixed note this morning, with mainland Chinese indices continuing to remain under pressure. The Shanghai Composite was down 0.29%, while the Shenzhen index edged 0.17% lower.
