Closing Bell: Nifty Ends 20 Pts Away From 25K Mark; Sensex Gains 370 Pts; Auto, FMCG, Bank Top Gainers

Indian equity benchmark indices opened flat on Tuesday, tracking muted global cues. Investors are expected to weigh the outcome of discussions at the White House between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, along with developments involving European leaders.

The BSE Sensex rose by 45.36 points to 81,319.11, while the Nifty edged up 14.4 points to 24,891.35 at the opening bell.

As of 7:58 AM, GIFT Nifty futures were trading at 24,967, down 45 points, indicating a weak start for domestic markets.

Markets Updates Amid Trump Zelenskyy Meeting

In Asia, markets were trading in the red, following overnight losses on Wall Street. Japan's Nikkei 225 was down 0.43%, while South Korea's KOSPI slipped 0.19%.

The geopolitical focus remains on Ukraine, as Zelenskyy said he would be open to meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin in a bid to end the ongoing war.

Meanwhile, US stock markets ended broadly flat on Tuesday. Investors remained cautious ahead of upcoming retail earnings and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's speech at the Jackson Hole symposium. The S\&P 500 closed marginally lower, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped by 0.07%.
