Stock Market Live Updates: Sensex Down 213 Pts, Nifty Above 24,600; Trent, Eicher, Top Gainers

The stock market on Friday opened flat, while the NSE Nifty50 opened the last trading session of the week at 24,734.90, down 33.45 points or 0.14% from the previous close. Similarly, the BSE Sensex started the day at 81,074.41, slipping 111.17 points or 0.14%.

Indian equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to start Friday's session on a weaker note, tracking negative global cues. The Gift Nifty was quoting around 24,725 early Friday, nearly 146 points below the previous close of Nifty futures, indicating a potential gap-down opening for domestic indices.

On July 31, Indian markets ended in the red after a volatile session. Although both Sensex and Nifty recovered from early losses to turn positive by midday, renewed selling pressure in the final hour dragged the indices lower.

The Sensex fell by 296.28 points, or 0.36%, ending the session at 81,185.58. Meanwhile, Nifty settled near 24,750, down by about 86 points, reflecting the market's reaction to the tariff news. Selling dominated the early trade and returned strongly toward the close, cementing the decline.

Asian Market Overview

Asian markets mirrored the weak sentiment. Japan's Nikkei 225 slipped 0.71%, while the broader Topix index remained largely unchanged. South Korea's Kospi took a sharp hit, falling 3.45%, with the tech-heavy Kosdaq tumbling 2%. Futures pointed to a softer start for Hong Kong's Hang Seng index as well.
