Closing Bell: Sensex Surges 575 Pts, Nifty Ends Above 25,310, Bajaj Finance, Nestle, Trent Top Gainers
As of 10:00 AM on October 15, benchmark indices traded positively with both the Sensex and Nifty trading firmly in the green. The BSE Sensex rose by 337.96 points, or 0.41%, to 82,367.94, while the NSE Nifty 50 gained 110.05 points, or 0.44%, to 25,255.55.
Stock market benchmarks are expected to open on a positive note today, with Nifty futures trading in the green at 25,289, up 0.09% in early deals. This comes after a subdued session on Tuesday, where both key indices ended under pressure amid profit booking in select sectors. The Sensex closed 297.07 points lower at 82,029.98, while the Nifty 50 slipped 29.55 points to settle at 25,145.50. Over the past five sessions, the markets have witnessed range-bound movement, amid global cues, crude oil prices, and foreign institutional investment trends. Asian markets traded broadly higher this morning, due to improved global risk sentiment and overnight gains on Wall Street.

"For the medium term (2026-2027), the tightening market structure is expected to push prices significantly higher. We believe a consolidation around the -55 mark over the next few months could be possible, with potential peaks reaching .00 per ounce by the year of 2026, and a sustained movement toward .00 per ounce in 2027 on COMEX; assuming average USDINR stays around 90; Rs.2,40,000 by 2026 year end and Rs. 2, 46,000 on domestic front," noted Motilal Oswal.

IRFC's net profit rose to Rs 1,777 crore, up 10.2% from Rs 1,613 crore in the same quarter last year. Net interest income (NII) also saw a healthy growth of 10.7% year-on-year, coming in at Rs 1,827.6 crore compared to Rs 1,650.6 crore in Q2 FY25.
Separately, for the quarter ended September 2025, IRFC's consolidated revenue rose 2.3% quarter-on-quarter to Rs 6,100 crore, up from Rs 5,960 crore. However, consolidated profit dipped slightly by 3.7% QoQ to Rs 183 crore from Rs 190 crore.

appointment of Mr. Tarun Garg as the next Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer

Asian markets traded broadly higher this morning. The Japanese Nikkei 225 surged 1.31% to 47,463.31. While Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index (HSI) climbed 1.11% to 25,724.20, extending its rebound In South Korea, the KOSPI led regional gains with a 1.86% jump to 3,627.90. Meanwhile, Taiwan’s Weighted Index advanced 1.2%, and Australia’s ASX 200 rose 0.86% as miners and financials lifted the index. On the Chinese mainland, the Shanghai Composite and Shenzhen Component posted marginal gains of 0.16% and 0.02%, respectively. Elsewhere, Malaysia’s FBM KLCI added 0.31%, and New Zealand’s NZX 50 gained 0.29%..
On the last trading day, Indian equity markets closed in the red, weighed down by profit-booking and cautious investor sentiment. The BSE Sensex dropped 297.07 points or 0.36%, settling at 82,029.98, while the NSE Nifty 50 declined 81.85 points 0.33%, closing at 25,145.50 . Among sectors, banking and IT stocks experienced mild corrections, whereas auto and FMCG stocks provided some support.
