Shefali Jariwala, who rose to fame after her performance in the popular song 'Kanta Laga', is no more. She died in the late hours of June 27, after reportedly having a cardiac arrest. Her passing comes as a shock to netizens and the Bollywood industry, as police investigate the root cause of her death.

Her last rites were performed on Saturday, June 28, in Mumbai's Oshiwara crematorium, with close family members and friends attending the funeral.
According to various reports, Shefali's husband rushed her to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital at midnight. He was accompanied by Parag Tyagi and three others. As per them, she was rushed after having a cardiac arrest. The doctors confirmed her death, and then her body was taken for postpartum at around 12:30 am to identify the cause of death.
ANI had quoted police officials, stating, Mumbai Police received information about this at 1 am. Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem. The cause of death is not yet clear.
Later on June 28, a police official told PTI "The autopsy has been done, but the opinion on the cause of death has been reserved. Based on preliminary information, it appears to be a natural death, and there was no foul play."
Shefali gained popularity with the 2002 remix music video Kaanta Laga, which also earned her the nickname 'Kaanta Laga Girl'. She joined the showbiz at an early age of 20 years. After Kanta Laga's song, she appeared in various Hindi movies, music videos and modelling. She was a wild card contestant in Bigg Boss 13 and starred in web series like ALT Balaji's Baby Come Naa (2018).
