Sangita Jindal has been awarded the Chevalier de lOrdre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ambassador for her significant contributions to arts and culture in India. This recognition highlights her efforts in fostering Indo-French cultural relations through various initiatives.

Thierry Mathou, the French Ambassador to India, awarded Sangita Jindal the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres on Friday. This honour is among France's most esteemed recognitions. Sangita Jindal, who chairs the JSW Foundation, received this accolade for her significant contributions to arts, culture, and heritage conservation in India, as well as her efforts in strengthening Indo-French cultural relations.

Sangita Jindal Receives French Honour

The award ceremony took place at Jindal's private residence in Mumbai. The JSW Foundation, the philanthropic division of the JSW Group led by her husband Sajjan Jindal, highlighted her achievements. The foundation emphasised her commitment to integrating culture into its core mission and establishing vibrant partnerships with France.

Fostering Cultural Exchange

Jindal has been instrumental in creating platforms for cultural exchange between India and France. Through artist residencies at Hampi Art Labs, she has facilitated interactions between Indian and French artists. These initiatives have provided meaningful opportunities for collaboration and dialogue between creators from both countries.

In 2024, Jindal will collaborate with France during the Paris Olympic Games. This partnership aims to showcase the intersection of art and sport. Additionally, she will participate in the Textile Matters exhibition at the Mobilier National in Paris later this year.

Several prominent Indians have previously received this prestigious honour. Notable recipients include Bharti Kher, Subodh Gupta, Shah Rukh Khan, Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Raghu Rai, Ebrahim Alkazi, Habib Tanveer, and Upamanyu Chatterjee. These individuals have made significant contributions to arts and culture.
