BSNL 4G Launched Today: Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched Bharat Sanchar Nigam's Swadeshi 4G stack. He also announced the rollout of nearly 98,000 mobile 4G towers across the country.
The Swadeshi 4G network is a fully software-driven, cloud-based based with a future-ready design and seamlessly upgradable to 5G, as per the PIB press release. "It is a matter of pride for us that BSNL has developed a swadeshi 4G technology," said PM Modi while in Odisha on Saturday, while launching the BSNL 4G stack.

"When 2G, 3G, and 4G services began in the telecom sector, India was way behind. We all know the kind of jokes that were going on social media. We decided that this important technology of the telecom sector should be developed in India," he added.
BSNL 4G Launched: What It Means For You?
At a time when most of the telecom giants are offering 5G services at a competitive price, BSNL's 4G services will make faster internet services accessible for a wider population.
"What does 5G signify for the common citizen? It means that students in Bihar will now have seamless access to world-class online education. Farmers in Punjab will receive real-time updates on Mandi prices. Soldiers stationed in Kashmir will remain connected with their loved ones. Entrepreneurs across the North East will be empowered with access to international expertise and funding. This 4G infrastructure is thoughtfully designed to uplift every Indian, regardless of their geography or background," said Minister of Communications & Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday.
All About BSNL Swadeshi 4G Stack
BSNL users can enjoy 4G network with the help of newly commissioned 97,500 mobile 4G towers. They are built at a cost of around Rs 37,000 crore with indigenous technology. The India-made network is cloud-based and can also be upgraded to 5G services, reported PTI, citing an official.
The BSNL 4G stack will connect over 26,700 unconnected villages, including 2,472 in Odisha. The advanced network structure will serve over 20 lakh subscribers, according to an official statement.
As per PTI, the towers are solar-powered, which will help in minimising the power consumption and boost India's presence as hub for green telecom sites. Other than BSNL 4G stack launch, PM Modi also unveiled Indai's 100% 4G saturation network through digital Bharat Nidhi. Under this initiative, over 29,000 to 30,000 villages are connected for development.
The initiative underscores the government's commitment to enhancing connectivity and ensuring that even remote areas have access to modern communication technologies.
