No School On Monday! Check Full List of States Where Schools Will Remain Closed On 13 October
October 2025 marks the festive season in India with school holidays for Diwali and other cultural events. Key closures vary by region, including Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Bihar.
October marks the start of India's lively festive season, bringing a series of school holidays in 2025. This break is eagerly awaited by students and families, offering a chance to pause from academic life. The holidays coincide with significant cultural festivals like Diwali, allowing families to engage in traditional rituals and celebrations. These breaks also provide time for rest before the year's final academic stretch.

In Karnataka, schools will be closed from October 8 to October 18 due to a Caste-Based Socio-Educational Survey. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced this unexpected break as teachers are involved in conducting the survey. Initially set to end earlier, the survey's delay led to an extension of the school closure period.
Diwali Celebrations and School Closures
Rajasthan's Education Department has declared Diwali holidays from October 13 to October 24. This 12-day mid-term break is a joyful occasion for students and teachers alike. Although October 12 is a Sunday, the official holiday period begins on October 13.
In Uttar Pradesh, schools will observe Diwali holidays from October 20 to October 23. With an additional Sunday holiday on October 19, students enjoy five consecutive days off. Meanwhile, Bihar's Diwali holidays start on October 18 and continue through Chhath Puja preparations.
Weather-Related School Closures
The Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) has closed schools in Darjeeling and Kalimpong due to heavy rains and landslides. Schools are expected to reopen on October 13, but parents should stay informed about any potential extensions of closures.
In Jammu Division, authorities are monitoring irregular rainfall conditions closely. If weather conditions worsen, local announcements will guide school operations. Parents should keep updated with the latest information from authorities regarding potential closures.
Chhath Puja Holidays
Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh will observe Chhath Puja holidays from October 25 to October 28. Major holidays fall on Monday and Tuesday during this period. In metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata, schools and offices will also close locally for Chhath Puja celebrations.
For most states not mentioned above, such as Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra (except metro areas), Delhi (except metro areas), Gujarat, Odisha, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh, schools will operate normally on October 13. No official notifications suggest school holidays for these regions on that date.
Students and parents should verify holiday schedules directly with their respective schools as individual administrations may make adjustments despite official announcements.
