NHAI Rolls Out QR Code Signboards on National Highways; All You Need to Know

Key Features of NHAI QR Code Sign Boards

The newly installed QR code boards on national highways will offer project-specific information. Commuters can scan these codes using smartphones to access details including:

1. National highway number, highway chainage or location markers, project length, and construction or maintenance timelines.

2. Emergency contacts such as highway patrol, toll manager, project manager, resident engineer, NHAI field office, and the helpline number 1033.

3. Nearby facilities including hospitals, petrol pumps, toilets, restaurants, police stations, vehicle repair shops, puncture repair outlets, truck lay-byes, toll plazas, and electric vehicle charging stations.

QR Code Placement for Maximum Impact

The NHAI QR code boards will be strategically placed for better visibility for commuter convenience. They are being installed near toll plazas, wayside amenities, rest areas, and truck lay-bys, as well as at highway start and end points. Key directional signboards on major highways will also have the QR codes, making sure that the travellers have easy access to important information throughout their journey.

Benefits of the Initiatives

This will help enhance road safety by providing faster access to emergency contacts and nearby facilities. It also provides transparency in highway projects, allowing citizens to track ongoing construction and maintenance work.
