Online Gaming Bill: Dream11, MPL, Zupee, My11Circle, RummyCulture, Probo Suspend Real-Money Gaming Operations

India's online real-money gaming (RMG) sector is witnessing a major shake-up as leading platforms like Dream11, Zupee, Mobile Premier League (MPL), My11Circle, RummyCulture, and Probo have either suspended or completely shut down their RMG offerings.

The move follows the passage of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, which bans all forms of online games involving monetary stakes. The bill, cleared by both houses of Parliament this week, is awaiting Presidential assent.

Dream 11 Parents Dream Sports Halts 'Pay to Play' Contests

Dream11, which generates over 90% of its revenue from paid fantasy contests, announced the wind-down of its RMG business after an internal town hall on August 20. Its parent company, Dream Sports has halted all 'Pay to Play' contests on Dream Picks, its recently launched fantasy sports app that allowed users to create four-player teams and compete across both innings.

The company is also suspending operations of Dream Play, its casual real-money gaming (RMG) app, both of which were introduced in the past few months. A notice on the app reads, "In light of the recent developments surrounding 'The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025', we are pausing all 'Pay to Play' Fantasy Sports contests on our platform. Your account balance remains safe and can be withdrawn anytime from the Dream11 app."

MPL Suspends All Money-Based Games, Shifts to Free-to-Play Model

Real-money gaming platform Mobile Premier League (MPL) has suspended all money-based gaming offerings on its platform. The decision comes in response to the passage of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025.

MPL, which offers over 60 games spanning fantasy sports, quizzes, board games, puzzles, and casual titles, will now pivot entirely to a free-to-play, non-monetary gaming model for Indian users.

The company said, "While new deposits will no longer be accepted, customers will be able to withdraw their balances seamlessly. Our focus was always to be the largest competitive gaming platform in the world irrespective of the business model. We remain committed to providing free-to-play gaming experiences in India," according to a report by Moneycontrol.

Zupee Ends Paid Games, Continues Free Titles for 150 Million Users

Real-money gaming platform Zupee has suspended all paid games on its platform following the passage of the Online Gaming Bill, 2025, but will continue to operate with its free-to-play offerings. The company will maintain access to popular titles such as Ludo Supreme, Ludo Turbo, Snakes & Ladders, and Trump Card Mania, and will focus on delivering responsible and engaging entertainment experiences to its 150 million users across India.

Probo, My11Circle and RummyCulture Exits RMG Segment

Meanwhile, opinion trading platform Probo has halted its real-money gaming operations with immediate effect in response to the new regulations. The company said it will now focus on building innovative information markets for global audiences while staying aligned with the government's directive.

Similarly, Games24x7's My11Circle and Gameskraft's RummyCulture have confirmed shutdowns of their real-money formats.
