As per Hindu scriptures, each day of Navratri honours a unique form of Maa Durga. On the ninth day, devotees worship Maa Siddhidatri, whose name combines the words Siddhi (spiritual powers) and Datri (giver). She is believed to bless her devotees with health, wealth, knowledge, spiritual success, and divine protection.

According to the Hindu Panchang, the Navami tithi began at 6:06 PM on September 30 and continues until 7:01 PM today, October 1. This period is considered highly auspicious for performing rituals such as kanya pujan, hawan, mantra chanting, and other forms of Durga worship.
On this day, devotees begin their morning with a ritual bath and thoroughly clean their homes. A traditional bhog prasad-consisting of puri, chana, and sooji halwa-is prepared and first offered to the goddess during the main puja.

Kanya Pujan, Kumari Puja or Kanjak Puja Today: Check Shubh Muhurat and Rituals
One of the most sacred rituals performed today is Kanya Pujan, also known as Kumari Puja or Kanjak Puja. Families invite nine young girls aged between three and ten, who are worshipped as living embodiments of Maa Durga. Their feet are washed, tilak is applied on their foreheads, and red sacred threads are tied on their wrists. Devotees then serve them the same bhog and offer gifts or dakshina as a token of respect and gratitude.
According to scriptures, each age group of girls represents a different form of the Goddess such as Kumarika, Kalyani, Rohini, Kali, Chandika, Shambhavi, Durga, Bhadra, and Subhadra. Worshipping them is believed to bring spiritual strength, prosperity, and divine blessings.
The Nine Siddhis of Maa Siddhidatri
Maa Siddhidatri is known to bless her devotees with nine siddhis (spiritual powers), which include:
- Anima - the ability to shrink in size
- Mahima - expanding in size
- Garima - becoming infinitely heavy
- Laghima - becoming extremely light
- Prapti - ability to get what one desires
- Prakamya - fulfilling one's desires
- Ishitva - lordship over all creation
- Vashitva - control over nature and elements
- Kamavasayita - appearing anywhere at will
Durga Puja Havan 2025
After completing the Kanya Pujan and main puja, many devotees perform a hawan in honour of Maa Siddhidatri. The sacred fire ritual is believed to purify the environment and deepen one's connection to the divine. Those observing Navratri fasts often break their fasts today after completing these rituals.
For devotees unable to perform elaborate rituals, simple acts like donating food, clothing, sweets, or dakshina to children or the needy are highly encouraged.

Maa Siddhidatri is depicted seated on a lotus, holding a mace, discus, conch, and lotus in her four hands. Today, her symbolic colour is pink, representing compassion and grace, and many devotees wear this colour to strengthen their spiritual connection with the goddess.
