Rainfall in Mumbai is attributed to a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, creating an east-west trough extending to the Arabian Sea. This has resulted in significant rainfall along Maharashtra's Konkan coast. An IMD official stated that these conditions will persist until mid-next week, prompting extended alerts for Mumbai.
