Mumbai Airport Closure Alert: No Flights on Nov 20 from 11 AM to 5 PM; Check Reason & Travel Advisory
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will remain closed for operations on November 20, 2025, for six hours. The airport authority issued an official passenger advisory, announcing that Mumbai Airport will be non-operational from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Thursday due to essential maintenance work.

According to the notice shared across official channels, the temporary airport shutdown is because of the annual post-monsoon maintenance which is being done to keep up with the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the airport's runway systems. The airport authorities clarified that this planned closure is mandatory for maintaining global aviation standards and to ensure safe landing and takeoff of aircraft throughout the year.
The post-monsoon runway maintenance includes critical check-ups for airports, such as runway surface inspection, lighting system checks, friction testing, and repair of monsoon-related wear and tear. These yearly check-ups are very essential to make sure that flight operations are not impacted during the peak travel season.
Passenger Advisory: What Should Travellers Do?
The Mumbai Airport shutdown on November 20 will impact both domestic and international flights, with airlines already issuing revised schedules and travel advisories to passengers. Travellers flying to or from Mumbai tomorrow have been advised to check their updated flight timings directly with their respective airlines. Most carriers are expected to reschedule flights outside the 11 AM-5 PM closure window to avoid cancellations.
