Earlier in the day, Messi's Kolkata visit descended into chaos, prompting heavy police intervention. Additional Director General (ADG) of Law and Order Jawed Shamim confirmed that the main event organiser, Satadru Dutta, was arrested following disruptions during the programme.

Messi reportedly arrived at the Kolkata venue at 11:15 AM and stayed for approximately 20 minutes before departing.

As per Sportstar report, the GOAT India Tour 2025 has been organised by West Bengal-based sports promoter Satadru Dutta under the banner of A Satadru Dutta Initiative (ASDI). Born in Rishra in Hooghly district, Dutta began his career in finance and investments before transitioning into sports promotion. Through ASDI, he has previously brought several global football icons to India.

One of his most notable achievements was bringing three-time FIFA World Cup winner Pele to Kolkata in 2015, marking the Brazilian legend's first visit to the city in 38 years. Pele attended an Indian Super League match and the Subroto Cup final during that historic trip.
