The mythological animated film Mahavatar Narsimha opened in theatres across India on Friday, July 25, with an impressive start for a genre that has traditionally seen limited traction in Indian cinemas. The movie collected Rs. 1.75 crore on its first day at the box office across all languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam.
Mahavatar Narsimha Day 1 Box Office Collection
According to early estimates from the Salcnik website, Mahavatar Narsimha's Day 1 India net collection stood at Rs. 1.75 crore, where the Hindi language movie collected Rs. 1.30 Cr, while Telugu garnered Rs. 0.35 Cr, Kannada Rs. 0.05 Cr, Tamil Rs. 0.03 Cr, and Malayalam got 0.02 Cr.
Even though the numbers are small, this is a great opening for an Indian animated film, especially one based on mythological content. Industry experts suggest that strong word-of-mouth and spiritual appeal could fuel weekend growth, especially in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

All About the Mahavatar Narsimha Movie
Mahavatar Narsimha is a grand mythological animation set in the Satya Yuga, where the Asur king Hiranyakashipu is spreading cruelly across the world. His son, Prahlad, remains devoted to Lord Vishnu, despite his father's cruelty. So to restore the peace and balance in the society, the incarnation of Narasimha, half-man, half-lion, takes place, who in the end kills Hiranyakashyapu.
Directed by Ashwin Kumar, the film is co-written by Jayapurna Das, Rudra Pratap Ghosh, and Kumar himself. The breathtaking 3D animation and semi-realistic visual effects have left many viewers stunned.
The voice of Lord Prahlad is given by Master Vedant Iyer, while Narasimha/Vishnu is voiced by Sudeep Chatterjee. Karan Patel dubbed Hiranyakashipu, while Anjali Menon voiced Holika. With music by Shankar Mahadevan and playback voices from Shreya Ghoshal, the movie has devotional soundtracks.
As per the director of the movie, Mahavatar Narsimha is the first film in a planned 10-part cinematic universe focused on Dashavatara, the ten divine incarnations of Vishnu. The announcements for Mahavatar Vamana or Mahavatar Rama, etc., might be seen soon.
