Crude Oil Prices Up Or Down?

Brent crude oil futures rose more than 1% to $63.1 per barrel on Monday after OPEC+ reaffirmed its decision to suspend production hikes during the first quarter of next year. The group on Sunday confirmed the three-month halt initially announced in early October, citing seasonal factors. However, gains in crude are limited by prospects for a Russia-Ukraine peace deal, which could pave the way for the lifting of sanctions on Russian oil and add more barrels to a market already bracing for a significant surplus next year, as per Trading Economics data.

The data also highlighted that oil prices recorded a fourth consecutive monthly decline in November amid fears of a supply glut. Elsewhere, over the weekend, President Trump escalated his threats toward Venezuela, issuing an ominous warning that the country's airspace should be considered "closed," before later downplaying his remarks.

WTI crude oil futures rose more than 1% to $59.2 per barrel.
