Several districts across Karnataka have been placed on high alert following weather advisories issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC). The state is expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and strong winds over the coming week, check district-wise details.

From October 8 to 10, the IMD forecasts sporadic but intense rainfall in the Malnad and southern interior districts, while coastal regions are likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated spots through October 12.

The KSNDMC's seven-day weather outlook, shared via its official social media channels, highlights the possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds across many regions of the state today.

Specific warnings have been issued for Belagavi, Vijayapura, and Raichur, which are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall, lightning, and thunderstorms. Residents in these areas have been advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate the risk of waterlogging, property damage, and traffic disruption.

The weather alerts extend to northern and eastern districts such as Bidar, Kalaburagi, and Tumakuru, where moderate rainfall is expected, accompanied by wind speeds ranging between 30-60 km/h, lightning and thunder.

However, no warnings have been issued for parts of Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, and Dakshina Kannada along the western coast. Central Karnataka districts like Chikkamagaluru and Hassan are also not under rain alerts for October 8, although moderate rainfall is anticipated in Raichur and Koppal.

Impact on Krishna Basin and Coastal Areas

Scattered to moderate rainfall is expected across the Krishna basin districts from October 8 to 17, affecting regions critical for agriculture and water management. Additionally, coastal Karnataka, the Malnad region and southern interior districts could witness heavy downpours at isolated spots over the next few days.

Bengaluru Weather Forecast

In the state capital, Bengaluru, the IMD has issued district-specific rain warnings for the next five days. The city is likely to experience intensifying rain activity, according to private forecaster Skymet Weather.

As of October 7, Bengaluru had recorded 23.6 mm of rainfall this month-16.6 mm in the first six days and 7 mm in the last 24 hours. The IMD predicts light rain for tomorrow, with a generally cloudy sky and "one or two spells of rain or thundershowers." Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 20°C and 29°C.

Public Issued Advisory for Bangalore Citizens

The Bengaluru Traffic Police issued multiple advisories urging residents to check road conditions and avoid flood-prone areas while commuting.

With above-average rainfall expected to continue, authorities are urging citizens to avoid low-lying and flood-prone areas, follow official advisories and take steps to safeguard property and personal safety.
